A total of nearly CMS report by Storyblok almost 1,000 people from different expertise and industry sectors, including HR, product management and IT, were asked about their work in content management.
The survey found, among other things, that around half of the respondents have so far used a traditional content management system. No wonder, with all the helpful features that a CMS offers. However, there is also an increasing trend towards a Headless CMS, which offers more possibilities in the omnichannel area.
In addition, there is also a growing interest in driving the next generation of content experiences and offering customers new content formats across multiple channels in addition to the website.

1. Publish content on a website only
For the report, the approximately 1,000 participants from Storyblok were asked on which channels they share their content the most. The result was the leading platform Website with just under 40 percent, followed by mobile applications with 20 percent. Iot channels, like AR/VR or smartwatches, are currently used by less than 27 percent of respondents.
When it comes to which channels users would like to use more with a CMS in the future, the respondents also predominantly chose the channels websites and mobile applications. E-commerce platforms also see almost 14 percent as future-proof channels in content management.
Interest in AR or smartwatches is still low for the future, but awareness and openness for new channels is there.

The results show that the trend is definitely towards much more channels that need to be filled with content. Even now, the high importance of mobile applications and the trend towards voice-controlled applications are apparent.

Most of the study's respondents rely on a mix of classic and Headless CMS . Overall, there is still a big trend towards classic CMS like WordPress and Adobe Experience Manager.
