Man sollte nicht unterschätzen, wie wichtig es ist, den Anfang sauber zu planen, die Organisation mitzunehmen und wirklich versierte Marketer und Analysten zu haben, die auch mit dem Tool umgehen können. Das soll keine Kritik an Amplitude sein, sondern eher der Aufruf, sich mit dem Thema Datengetriebenheit intensiv auseinander zu setzen und nicht damit zu rechnen, dass es ein neues Tool die alten Probleme lösen wird. Das Tool ist „nur“ ein Stück Technologie, was Menschen benötigt, die es dann auch verwenden, und zwar so, dass ein Mehrwert (am besten für den Nutzer) daraus entsteht.

Viel zu viel wird noch von sich selbst geschlossen: Ich denke, das ist so, dann denken das sicherlich andere auch. Das ist zwar teilweise richtig, aber meist leider nicht. Zusätzlich denken die meisten in Durchschnitten der Gesamtmasse, und nicht segmentiert in einzelne Untergruppen, die verschieden sind, aber in sich selbst homogen. All das kann Amplitude lösen, indem es Erkenntnisse über Nutzer liefert, auch segmentiert, und das mit einer Benutzeroberfläche, die sehr angenehm ist, sehr intuitiv.

Amplitude is hands down one of the best analytics tools I've had the pleasure of using. Here is why – 1. Developer's Dream: From a developer's perspective, Amplitude is very easy to implement. Whether it's mobile or web, it seamlessly integrates, saving valuable coding time. For example, I integrated it into my app effortlessly, and I believe it has paid off with insightful user data. 2. Data-Driven Decision Powerhouse: Viewing Amplitude reports weekly has streamlined our decision-making process. It offers a vast array of charts and analyses that provide detailed insights - and we use that we dig deeper into insights in our data-jam sessions. For instance, I can easily create customized dashboards to track our key performance indicators, enabling our team to make informed choices. 3. User-Friendly Interface: Amplitude's user interface is neat and the new UI features are very friendly to use. I like the new layout - it's much more intuitive.

What did you not like?

I initially found the pricing structure to be a bit confusing - I wasn't very sure about what to go with. Some features like path-finder can have a steep learning curve (it did for me) but I like that there are many resources available to learn how to use it pretty quickly.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

1. Tracking the key performance metrics and bringing the team together on the same page - we do weekly sessions and use amplitude to dig for insights - it's much better to do it live and then share those reports with the rest of the team to refer. Sharing reports is a breeze. 2. Tracking user drop-offs, Amplitude's funnel combined with pathfinder gives a very good view into locating and optimizing the points where users are dropping off so that we. 3. The most common use-case is to fish for most used and least used features - which really helps in defining our focus areas and shaping the product.

Es ist nicht nur für das Produkt-/Analytik-Team einfach, sondern auch für Marketing-/Inhaltsverantwortliche. Fast alle unsere Analyseaufgaben waren mit Hilfe von Amplitude leicht zu bewältigen. Wir brauchten keine separaten Abfragen zu schreiben und Analysten um Hilfe zu bitten. Eines der besten Dinge ist, dass Sie Ihre Nutzer nach Belieben segmentieren können, um die Metriken verschiedener Kohorten zu vergleichen.

Die Arbeit mit den Diagrammen in den Dashboards ist nicht sehr bequem. Jedes Mal, wenn Sie die Ansicht eines Diagramms ändern möchten, müssen Sie dieses Diagramm separat öffnen, seine Ansicht ändern und es dann im Dashboard speichern. Unser Hebel auf den Produkterfolg hat sich damit signifikant gesteigert. Der Clou ist für mich die detaillierte Betrachtung einzelner User Journeys ohne dabei den Datenschutz verletzen zu müssen. Gepaart mit unseren qualitativen Interviews priorisieren sich unsere Investitionen aktuell fast schon von selbst.

Aktuell kenne ich keinen besseren Lösungsweg. Natürlich muss man die Investition leisten können, um vom gesamten Umfang profitieren zu können. Aber bereits die kostenlose Variante löst viele Herausforderungen.

Zusätzlich zur extrem einfachen und intuitiven Benutzeroberfläche bietet die Plattform besonders leistungsstarke Kommunikationswerkzeuge. I appreciate how easy it is to create funnels in Amplitude and get A/B tests results on those funnels so that I can understand whether product changes have an impact on the engagement of our app. It also, helps me identify where the areas for improvement are in our funnels.

What did you not like?

Sometimes I need to create funnels on parent entities that are above the user level. Amplitude has some functionality to do this analysis, but it doesn't work 100% with the way our data is modeled so in these situations, I some times fall back on writing SQL do the data analysis.

What did you like?

The breadth of analytics tools is simply amazing. For anything that I wanted to understand about my users, I could find a predefined chart or view to serve as the basis for my analysis.

What did you not like?

Sometimes the analysis is cached or saved with a few seconds delay. It happened that when viewing the same chart, another person would see slightly different data. Not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind.

What did you like?

I love how easily I can create funnels, cohorts, and reports. If I am wondering e.g which dishes we are selling have a higher chance of churning a user I can create this report in a few minutes. If I had to request it from the Data team, that would take much more time. I also like the visualization or the reports and funnels so I can directly use them in my presentations.

What did you not like?

The problem is not about the products itself but the setup of it. I used amplitude in different companies and usually, the data teams don't want to use it that much, also The product teams do not put in the effort so you have a lot of irrelevant and historical events, product IDs, and properties that make it impossible to find the relevant filtration/data. I think there is a room for improvement when it comes to onboarding so at least the set up is done perfectly in the first place.

Amplitude erlaubt es unseren Squads selbstständig Insights zu gewinnen, die wir für Produktentscheidungen einsetzen. Es wird nicht mehr nach Bauchgefühl gehandelt, sondern auf Basis der zugrundeliegenden Daten. Die Nutzung ist relativ einfach und auch die Kohortendefinition ist für User ohne Data Science Skills gut möglich (vorausgesetzt die Events sind sinnvoll benannt).

Das oben genannte gilt nur, wenn alle relevanten Events auch konsequent implementiert und sinnvoll benannt wurden. Das erfordert einen gewissen Implementierungsaufwand und Planung. Im Endeffekt ist die Qualität der Insights nur so gut wie die Implementierung, was schnell zu Lücken führen kann.

Ich finde den Interface ziemlich altmodisch und ich habe schon ein bisschen Zeit gebraucht umd mich in dem Plattform wohl zu fühlen - ist nicht selbsterklärend, vorallem wann man nicht so häufig mit dem Reports arbeitet. Ich finde es umständig, dass ich erst mal auf Properties die Einstellungen ändern muss, und dann nochmal im Report weiterfiltern muss, wenn ich was genauer anschauen möchte. Die Infos sind auch oberflächig - ich sehe z.B. wie häufig man was getan hat, aber aber genau was sie gemacht haben.

What did you like?

When properly instrumented and used, it can deliver great insights into the product. It's helpful for real-time monitoring when executing changes. It's very useful to analyse drop-off in a customer journey, different customer cohorts, and track events across real customer journeys.

What did you not like?

Instrumenting Amplitude properly is key, so there is a bit of a learning curve towards understanding the best Amplitude setup. There are some key things to know re: Amplitude's definitions of users (Eg. what qualifies as a "new user"). Additionally, Amplitude can be limiting depending on what the customers have enabled - eg. it does not work when they have ad blockers in place.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

It's helpful for comparing customer journeys in an A/B test. It's very useful to analyse drop-off in a customer journey, and I can dig deeper to track events across real customer journeys. I can also find patterns and trends on where customers are clicking, with specific events firing.

What did you like?

With the Amplitude plug in it is really easy to see all the page_types, events, etc. that are triggered, which helps me to set up tracking correctly. Also, staff is very responsive and answers questions as quick as they can. Being able to set up dashboards is a great way to keep track of bigger projects or areas of a website without anding up with huge amounts of different sheets.

What did you not like?

Sometimes I do miss some functions when setting up dashboards. For example I would find it really helpful to link other dashboards/files on an existing dashboard. Also, I do somethimes run into trouble with who can or can't edit something, especially if many people are working on a dashboard overtime.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

I use Amplitude to track our website pages overall by types and categories, but also to set up tracking for certain projects where I made changes and whish to see the impact over time. I also use it to see conversions on the pages and track any changes there. I've just recently started to also use the flow diagramms.

What did you like?

As a product marketer, I love how easy it is to build boards and reports and play with data visualisation to look at a data point from different angles and generate genuine and ready-to-use insights. I usually look at boards made by my product analytics teams and can easily duplicate, replicate, tweak events, date ranges and visualisation to get to where I want. The tool takes a bit of getting used to but ends up being pretty intuitive. I also really enjoy being able to pull anonymised User information to create target audience cohorts based on behavioural data.

What did you not like?

I've heard from my analyst team that the maintenance wasn't always the easiest. It would be nice to have a library of existing and custom events on the tool itself and understand if the events are being maintained and/or recomnmended by my team. For example sthg similar to facebook or twitter blue checkmark.

Amplitude is a platform built around one goal - to help users advance in product analysis and build a data culture. It has a very user-friendly and intuitive interface so it doesn't require much skill or knowledge to just start building your product analytics. I love how it helps me communicate insights to my colleagues without much effort. It also has extensive documentation on the various connections, its API, and other under-the-hood processes. Also, customer service is outstanding

What did you not like?

With Amplitude you have to plan everything carefully in advance - you can't just start tracking everything and hope it will unleash hidden secrets about your product. Learn to monitor your event tracking, distribute responsibilities among the team and encourage everyone to participate (whether it's about thinking about event tracking after every feature release or using dashboards to evaluate their work). However, in my opinion, Amplitude is the best tool for product analytics that is out there

Which problems are you solving with the product?

We're able to show and explain our users with incredible granularity - by constructing dashboards on all possible segments and identifying weak sides of our product. We also managed to connect Amplitude with our internal CRM system to enable customer support also see user activity.

Setting up Amplitude and starting to track events couldn't be easier. Not having to handle user session logic and just focusing on defining the events we want to track has helped us better understand our users faster than ever

Setting new events it's easy but most of the time we struggle identifying the new events and coming with good and insightful visualization for the events. Recommendation of visualization for our tracked events would make the process even faster. Would also be great to have an easier way for setting up multiple environments (dev, stg, prd), most of the times we need to duplicate the visualizations for the different env we have.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

As an startup Amplitude let's us quickly understand if user are using new features or not. This way it let's us focus on the features that users are using the most or the least. It also allow us to estimate the amount of users using the platform in a certain time frame.

Not able to specify the event names within Amplitude. The namings for events to be tracked have to be specified beforehand. However, sometimes it happens that the event name needs to be changed, or there has been a spelling mistake and the data across platforms becomes difficult to compare.

What did you like?

The user tracking is one of the best ones I've seen. The UI provides this overview of the historical timeline of a user which makes it very clear to understand the order of different events. With this view you can also see the different event properties and user properties. On a different note, the UI provides good analytical tools so that the different product teams and stakeholders can make their own data analysis.

What did you not like?

It is not easy to track attribution. So when there is a mix between web traffic, web app and app, then the user acquisition and attribution is not that straight forward or at least not as easy as other tools. So it would be great to strengthen UTM tracking and a source medium dimension to know where the traffic is coming and whether it is paid, organic, direct or referral. One additional thing that It would be great to improve is the exports to BigQuery, while you do get all the data with a very short window, the user ids are not merged, so it would be great to have a daily table with the amplitude ids already merged into the events table.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

Tracking all the events of a specific user, all their milestones and different behaviours is great. The user level event tracking is very rich.

Diese Einfachheit gepaart mit einer guten Skalierbarkeit und einem auch für Anfänger gut nutzbaren Frontend zur Erstellung von Dashboards sind die größten Stärken aus meiner Sicht.

What did you not like?

Die Skalierbarkeit ist leider auch mit SaaS-typischen Kosten verbunden. Daher lässt sich Amplitude nur begrenzt als einzige Analytics Platform empfehlen. Einen Data-Lake kann sie selbstverständlich ebenso nicht ersetzen.

Ich nutze Amplitude als Dashboard für unsere Mobile App Performance mit verschiedenen Sicht die tagesgenaue aber auch monatliche Kennzahlen darstellen. Auch zur direkten Kommunikation mit unseren Kunden und Partnern ist Amplitude gut geeignet und reduziert den manuellen Reportingaufwand erheblich.

The UI and it's integrations. The pricing is not so high compared with other tools there's ,many documentation on how to use the app in the best way. Many Demo's on Youtube to learn as welll apart from the other many Video tutorials that the youtube community release almost every week ? month. Technical support response is quite fast and most of the times the agents have a nice and gentle approach

Difficult to use without training , even tho the UI looks fresh and intuitive, for beginners there are another tools which are much easy to use, but once you learn I rather use Amplitude because of it's advance features

What did you like?

Intuitive visuelle Darstellung mit Hovermöglichkeit zum Hervorheben einzelner Nutzergruppen, einfache technische Implementierung und Erweiterung mit weiteren Events, leichte Erstellung von Dashboards und einzelnen Sub-Boards, leichte Anreicherung der Boards mit detaillierteren Bedingungen bzw. Filtermöglichkeiten um zielgerichtetere Analysen zu erstellen, ausführliche Anleitungen und Dokumentationen fürs Selbststudium sind vorhanden

What did you not like?

Weitere Bearbeiter müssen für jedes Sub-Board einzeln berechtigt werden (das kostet viel Zeit und man vergisst schnell eine Freigabe, Kundengruppen sind auf 20 begrenzt (wird leicht übersehen und dann wird >20 in de Auswertung vergessen), Nachvollziehbarkeit der Bedeutung einzelner Events muss selbst gewährleistet werden (technische Dokumentation ist nicht ersichtlich)
