Haufe People Operations is modular HR software for companies and public sector organizations with 200 or more employees. The cloud platform brings together three areas: document management, HR core management and workforce management. Together, these cover the full administrative side of HR — from the digital personnel file through HR processes, ticketing and self-services to time evaluation under collective agreements and workforce scheduling.
Who is Haufe People Operations for?
Haufe People Operations is built for mid-sized and large companies, as well as public sector organizations, with genuinely complex requirements: multiple legal entities and sites, collective bargaining and works council agreements, shift operations, and a high volume of HR documents. The software deliberately occupies the gap between two market segments. It is leaner, faster to implement and more cost-efficient than traditional enterprise HR suites, while offering considerably more configurability and depth than standard solutions built for small companies.
What can Haufe People Operations do?
Document management: a digital personnel file with a proven folder structure, automated retention and deletion periods, deadline and reminder management, document generation from your own Word templates, e-signature, and a secure document vault with 10 GB per employee for payslips and employment certificates. To replace paper files, a scanning service is available that digitizes, stores and then destroys the originals.
HR core management: master data management with full change history; multi-level organizational structures across legal entities, sites, departments and cost centers; jobs and positions including budget and full-time equivalents; qualification and certification tracking; HR processes and workflows built without programming; HR task management with ticketing; employee and manager self-service with an HR knowledge base; onboarding with a preboarding portal; and freely configurable role and permission profiles.
Workforce management: time tracking via browser, mobile app, time clock terminal and kiosk mode; automatic evaluation of recorded time against collective agreements and company rules, including breaks, premiums and wage types; approval workflows; absence and leave management; workforce scheduling based on qualifications and availability; and payroll preparation with automated payroll export.
Which systems can it connect to?
Haufe People Operations can run as your system of record, or connect to an existing HCM system that holds the master data.
What sets Haufe People Operations apart from other HR systems?
Three things:
Legally vetted content is part of the software. File structures, retention and deletion periods and document templates come from Haufe’s specialist HR publications and are continuously reviewed and updated. Haufe has been a specialist HR publisher for more than 70 years — that expertise is built into the product, not just available through support.
Real time evaluation, not just time tracking. Haufe People Operations evaluates recorded time against the collective agreements and company rules you configure, calculates breaks and premiums automatically, and hands wage types over to your payroll system. The time tracking features of many HR suites stop short of this step.
Implementation without an IT project. The system ships preconfigured and is adapted through the interface — no programming involved. Implementing it does not require in-depth IT project management expertise.
Security and data protection
Haufe People Operations is a cloud-native SaaS solution. Data is held in certified EU data centers in line with ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701.
Awards and recognition
Haufe’s digital personnel file won the German HR Software Award 2022 in the “Digital Personnel File” category, and was rated “very good” (1.4 on the German 1–6 scale) by technology magazine CHIP in its individual software review in April 2026.
