ChatGPT is talk of the town - or rather, every browser. Rarely has any tool created as much stir in the past months as the AI text generation tool from OpenAI. For work in the office, at university or at home, ChatGPT is no longer an insider's tip. But what about when you're on the move and need spontaneous text ideas? In that case, we'll show you in this article how to use ChatGPT on your mobile and answer the question of whether there is also an app for iOS and Android.Update from May 22, 2023:

Originally, there was no official app for Android and iOS with which you could use ChatGPT on your mobile. However, there is now a corresponding app for Apple - but it is currently only available in the USA, but is also to be rolled out in other countries. As soon as this is the case in Germany, we will update this article accordingly.Using ChatGPT on the smartphone - here's how it works! 

Basically, operating ChatGPT on the mobile phone is the same as on your desktop. The only requirement is an internet connection. Just follow these steps to be able to use the AI-Tool via smartphone:

Logging into ChatGPT on the smartphone

Step 1: 

• Open your smartphone browser and go to the tool page at chat.openai.com.Step 2:

• Click on 'Log in' and log in with your credentials.Step 3:

To be able to use ChatGPT at all, you first need to register with an email address. If you don't have an account yet, this can also be done quite simply on your smartphone:

Step 1:

• Open your smartphone browser and go to chat.openai.com.Step 2:

• Click on 'Sign Up' and then enter the email address you want to register your account with.Step 3: 

• In the next step, you must choose a password. The only condition: The password has to be at least 8 characters long. For a significantly higher level of security, we recommend using a password manager where you can not only secure all your passwords, but also generate complex and unique passwords.Step 4: 

• After you've chosen your password, OpenAI will send a confirmation email to your email address. Click on the link included in the email you received to confirm your registration.Step 5: 

• After clicking on the confirmation link, ChatGPT will ask you for your name and phone number.Step 6:

• After you've provided your phone number, you will receive a registration number via SMS. Enter this in your browser to register your phone as a device for ChatGPT.Step 7:

• Done! You can now log in with your credentials as described above and use ChatGPT on your smartphone.ChatGPT as an App - Does it exist?

The short answer: no. Unfortunately, there is currently no app for iOS or Android that would allow ChatGPT to be used on a smartphone. Whether OpenAI will provide one in the future is not known at the moment. However, the provider is working on a paid version of its AI text generator, which is intended to offer more stable connections. So it's quite possible that OpenAI will release an app for more comfortable use on a smartphone in the process. We will definitely keep you up to date on this.
