The best thing about Magnolia for me is that it is very customisable, both from admincentral interface and backend point of view. Without a doubt, another of its strong points is that it is totally java based. Finally, another of its best points is that for people who use it as a contributor of information or as a user, it is quite intuitive and easy to move through the different applications and content.

What did you not like?

One of the things I dislike is that the documentation is often lacking information. There are certain areas that are either glossed over or not even mentioned at all.

Additionally, with the self-hosted version, you have the ability to better understand potential issues and resolve them independently.

What did you not like?

Many clients complain about the lack of a SaaS version, which makes it difficult to market the product. Additionally, simplifying editor customization would be necessary by removing Vaadin, introducing APIs, and adopting more modern and functional frameworks like React or Vue. Fortunately, this last point should finally be in progress. Some connectors for third-party integrations are still very immature and often require a complete overhaul.

Magnolia bietet eine Headless Ansatz. Für die moderne Softwareentwicklung perfekt. Zudem ist das CMS Modular aufgebaut und sehr benutzerfreundlich. Spannend ist auch, dass der Stack mit dem Magnolia geschrieben wurde in Java ist. Damit ist Magnolia einer der wenigen CMS die diesen Stack nutzen und durchaus bekannt sind.

Es braucht eine Weile bis man mit dem System vertraut ist. Zudem eignet es sich eher nicht für kleinere Projekte. Zudem kennt man heutzutage vermutlich eher weniger Java im Bereich CMS.

What did you not like?

The separation of content areas and sections as well as text and image assets leads to unusually complicated workflows. The automatic scaling and loading times of images is definitely not well thought out. Last but not least, the platform has proved to be very maintenance-intensive in our company.

The ready to use API`s which make it easy to connect Magnolia to various sources. It`s easy to manage and has all the functions I would expact from a DAM System. It can be integrated in self coded projects like our data platform and as a standard software we get all the updates and patches we need to keep it safe and stable.

What did you not like?

It`s the best DAM I ever used and I use DAM software for more than twenty years. Our own and extern developers are happy with the interfaces they can easily use to integrate Magnolia in their project architecture. The continuous delivery of updates and patches minimize the operational rist of the project, so the our developers can concentrate to increase the value of customer experience.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

Managing more than 120000 digital assets with more than 7 Million Versions. We have exact dates to depublish digital assets and also to publish newer versions on a special date and time. All that is very important to us to meet legal requirements ant to keep our customers up to date in a difficult and complex kind of business.

What did you like?

The large number of apps and the simple language handling in particular make editing content much easier and faster for us. Training new colleagues in particular is now much easier, as most of the steps are self-explanatory. In addition, there is a lot of documentation and training on specific problems. We came from a CMS system where most of the programming and customisation could only be carried out by external service providers. With Magnolia, we now have a system that we can maintain and develop ourselves.

What did you not like?

Individual programming and dependencies could be implemented even more easily and the system could be structured in an even more modular way - e.g. copy and paste of components on different pages.

Which problems are you solving with the product?

Multilingual company websites can be maintained both centrally and decentrally without drifting apart visually. Magnolia now combines many functions that previously had to be maintained in other systems into one screen.

What did you not like?

Magnolia's performance is relatively bad when trying to save complex pages. The ability to export and import big amounts of data, especially from DAM. Documentation can be improved.

We launched multiple sites with Magnolia. We can create apps for costumer usage very fast. We made an elastic search adapter.

What did you like?

It´s simple to use for non tecnical users, with a reduced learning curve. The performance is good. It´s based on standard technologies. It´s a secure platform. The official support is great, fast and very helpful. It´s open source, so it brings you the possibility to expand and/or customize default functionality.

What did you not like?

The lack of core sample templates. Private sites/Intranet functionalities. Data structure based on JCR standard may not be the best option.

It brings us the possibility to cover a lot of use cases, in different industries and businesses, in a fast and secure way, with a good performance, and contained costs

Magnolia punktet mit einer intuitiven Menüführung, die sich nach kurzer Einarbeitungszeit mühelos bedienen lässt. Die Funktionen der Standard-Apps bieten bereits vielfältige Möglichkeiten für ein effektives Website-Setup. Sollte etwas fehlen, lässt sich dank der Flexibilität problemlos neue, maßgeschneiderte Apps integrieren. Auch der Support von Magnolia ist erstklassig. Besonderen Dank geht an unseren Partner Manager Christoph!

What did you not like?

Momentan gibt es nichts, was mich an der Partnerschaft mit Magnolia stört. Ein Bereich, der verbessert werden könnte, sind die teils langen Ladezeiten. Das hängt allerdings auch mit der Komplexität des Codes zusammen. Updates können manchmal problematisch sein und erfordern oft einen erheblichen Aufwand.

Bei zahlreichen Kunden verwenden wir Magnolia für klassische Webseiten und Portale. Magnolia ist dabei ein zentraler Baustein für das Content-Management und die Auslieferung der Inhalte. Die Standardfunktionen von Magnolia bieten eine starke Unterstützung und durch die hohe Flexibilität können wir auch spezifische Kundenanforderungen hervorragend umsetzen. Früher war das mit unserem alten CMS ein echtes Hindernis!

Das Produkt ist sehr mächtig und es sind viele Optionen, die fast keine Wünsche offen lassen. Es gibt wenige die sich so intutiv bedienen lassen und wo man doch trotz der Komplexität recht schnell in die Thematik reinkommt. Gut ist das klare Frontend und ein übersichtliches Desigen. Gerne noch mehr vereinfachen, damit es in der Zukunft noch einfacher ist.

Es ist ein Produkt mit sehr vielen Möglichkeiten. Am Anfang braucht man doch etwas um diese Komplexität zu beherrschen. Vielleicht wären hier kurze Trainingsvideos die überall beispielsweise auf Youtube abgerufen werden können eine weitere wichtige Ergänzung. Die Vereinfachung von Umrechnung bzw. Gestaltung von Bannern wäre noch schön.

Die Benutzererfahrung des Tools ermöglicht eine präzise Abbildung unserer Prozesse und die Leistung ist beeindruckend. Ich bin gespannt auf die Fülle von Erweiterungen, die wir in Zukunft noch nutzen werden.

Die Anpassung einiger Module an unsere Bedürfnisse gestaltet sich schwierig und Updates verursachen gelegentlich zusätzlichen Aufwand. Eine flexiblere Customer Experience sowie eine verbesserte Anpassbarkeit des Backends wären wünschenswert. Hin und wieder auftretende längere Ladezeiten oder unerwartete Seitenverschiebungen nach dem Speichern von Komponenten machen die tägliche Arbeit manchmal etwas umständlich.

Für die Entwicklung unserer Websites und eigenen Online-Portale greifen wir gerne auf Magnolia zurück. Es ermöglicht uns, schnell und unkompliziert ansprechende Webpräsenzen zu gestalten und zu pflegen. Allerdings stoßen wir gelegentlich an Grenzen, da die Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten etwas eingeschränkt sind. Daher entscheiden wir je nach Projekt individuell, ob Magnolia das passende Tool ist. Das Content-Management ist ein Kinderspiel und erfordert keinerlei Programmierkenntnisse. Änderungen auf der Website lassen sich im Handumdrehen umsetzen.

Bei Magnolia sind der Kreativität keine Grenzen gesetzt: Man kann die eigene Website genau so erstellen, wie sie ursprünglich entworfen wurde, nur mit HTML und CSS. Einfache Verwaltung mehrerer Domains mit verschiedenen Root-Seiten. Zudem bietet Magnolia eine einfache Verwaltung mehrerer Sprachen. Das reduziert die Komplexität bei der Erstellung der Website deutlich.

What did you not like?

Wir sind mit Magnolia rundumzufrieden. Es gibt nichts zu meckern. Alles läuft einwandfrei und ist einfach empfehlenswert.

Wir haben Magnolia als Content-Management-System verwendet, um komplexe und umfangreiche Kundenprojekte relativ einheitlich modular aufbauen zu können. Die hohe Flexibilität (ohne direkt in den Code eingreifen zu müssen) ermöglicht es uns daher, selbst die komplexesten Kundenwünsche realisieren zu können. Außerdem erlaubt das System dem Kunden es, Inhalte relativ schmerzfrei selbst editieren zu können.

Ich nutze Magnolia für den täglichen Arbeitsalltag und bin seit dem Entschluss umzusteigen sehr zufrieden. Alle anfallenden Projekte werden mit dieser Software umgesetzt. Es gibt aktuell kein Projekt was sich nicht damit realisieren könnte. Durch die schnelle und intuitive Bedienung spart man nicht nur Zeit, sondern auch nerven im Vergleich zu CMS Software der Konkurrenz

Auch wenn die extreme Anpassungsfähigkeit von Magnolia eines seiner stärksten Punkte ist, sorgt dies auch gleichzeitig dafür, dass einfache Dinge schnell unübersichtlich und unnötig kompliziert werden. Hier würde ich mir beispielsweise eine Unterteilung des Backends in eine „Einfache“ sowie eine „Experten“-Ansicht wünschen. So könnten gerade neue Nutzerinnen einfacher und schneller eine einfache Website bauen.

Wir haben Kunden, die auf Magnolia ihre Website betreiben. Wir entwickeln hierbei neue Elemente, Pflegen Inhalte und sorgen dafür, dass alles richtig läuft. Auch bezüglich der Suchmaschinenoptimierung achten wir hierbei auf die Erfüllung der richtigen technischen Vorraussetzungen sowie der passenden Umsetzung dieser, soweit Magnolia dies eben ermöglicht.

Mir gefällt am besten an Magnolia, dass man in hier keine großen Vorkenntnisse über das Tool benötigt. Es lässt sich sehr einfach bedienen und auch Anfänger im Online Marketing wie zum Beispiel unsere Trainees können hier schnell Inhalte erstellen oder optimieren. Das Tool gibt einem zudem verschieden Vorschläge und Tipps in Sachen SEO-Optimierung, was für unseren Blog super ist. Auch der Kundensupport war bisher immer sehr hilfreich.

What did you not like?

Aktuell fällt mir hier nichts ein. Das Pricing für Magnolia ist absolut in Ordnung und das System bietet einem eine Menge Möglichkeiten zur Verwaltung von Website-Inhalten. Auch der Support war bisher immer sehr nett und hilfreich. Auch finde ich das System total geeignet für Anfänger, da man sich sehr schnell in die Oberfläche einarbeiten kann und eigene Inhalte erstellen kann.

Wir nutzen Magnolia für unsere Websites und eigenen Onlineportale, um einfache, performante Websites aufzubauen und zu pflegen. In den Anforderungsanalyse Meetings mit Magnolia wurde von Magnolia versprochen dass bestimmte API´s vorhanden sind, erst im weiteren Projektverlauf wurde klar dass die API´s nicht funktionsfähig waren und angepasst werden mussten.

Content Pflege für zwölf Ländershops /OmniShop. Migration von Content von alten Systemen. Einfacher Import. Ungeschultes Personal findet schnell einen guten Einstieg in die Bedienung des CMS. Besonders Kundenmitarbeiter sind nicht überfordert und haben einen angenehmen Einstieg in die Bedienung des CMS.
