Who We Are
Watergenics is a startup based in Berlin that combines high-tech real-time sensors and AI in a water analytics platform. We are a data company that measures water-quality parameters to create actionable predictive analytics for environmental monitoring. Since its birth 3 years ago in the hallways of the European Commission in Brussels, the project has grown to a team of 14 and is looking to strengthen its leadership.
Your Responsibilities
By fulfilling this role, you will implement and deliver Watergenics’ sensing technology through a combination of hardware engineering and machine learning.You will be responsible for the research and development of the optical sensor and the web platform, leading and growing our team of motivated engineers in order to support the progression of the next generation water analytics.
Responsibilities include:

• Lead, coordinate, and manage a cross-functional team designing, implementing, and testing our water sensor technology
• Define challenging objectives and key results together with the team and monitor progress, eliminate roadblocks and prevent distractions
• Be an advocate for team productivity, delivery quality and operational excellence
• Structure the team and recruit driven, highly skilled engineers at pace
• Nurture talent and establish technical excellence by fostering skill and career development
• Lay out the technical strategy and execution for the business, and manage budgets and time-frames
• Build the product roadmap jointly with product and business, and drive it towards market launch to meet growth goals
• Balance immediate business objectives against long-term architectural and research vision
• Lead and facilitate technical decision making for all products and services as well as making cross-functional  decisions, from hardware supply chain to software devops
• Remain hands-on, with a heavy focus on the following tech stack
• Ensure mitigation of relevant security, privacy, and business continuity risks
• Evaluate new technologies and drive research and development to push the state of the art of water quality sensing
• Collaborate and form partnerships with external academic and industrial stakeholders to support research and development
• Represent the company’s mission and vision to external stakeholders at all levels

Your Profile

• Forward thinking and inventive thought-leader
• Strong engineering background
• Proven track record of successful execution and delivery of innovative products
• Managerial experience leading agile engineering/data science/ML teams
• Startup/Scale-up experience with a background in Iot/Data Science/ML is a plus
• Ability to successfully hire and lead a growing tech team
• Strong project and stakeholder management skills
• Customer oriented mindset with an ability to 'translate' technological lingo
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English is a must
• Excellent communication skills at all levels of social interaction is a must
• German is a plus
