Christian Lindner

FDP | Federal Minister of Finance | Speaker

Finance

Christian Lindner is the Federal Minister of Finance and party leader of German political party _FDP_. Although only 45 years old, Lindner has been in politics for over 20 years. In 2009, Lindner became General Secretary of the _FDP_, but resigned from this position. When the party missed out on entering parliament in the federal elections, Lindner played a key role in the party's re-entry to parliament. As the lead candidate, he initially led the party to a brilliant election result in NRW, which was ultimately decisive in enabling CDU lead candidate Armin Laschet to forge a black-yellow alliance in NRW. A repeat at the federal level then failed, partly due to the CDU/CSU's poor result. Instead, Lindner led his party into an alliance with the SPD and the Greens, the current governing Jamaica coalition.
