What you can learn from Matthias Schweighöfer:
For more than two decades, Matthias Schweighöfer has shaped the film and entertainment industry—as an actor, director, producer, and entrepreneur. What began with major box-office hits in German cinema like Keinohrhasen and What a Man has evolved into an international career reaching far beyond work in front of the camera. As co-founder of the film production company Pantaleon Films and the AI film studio Storybook Studio, Schweighöfer actively shapes stories and productions behind the scenes as well. In addition, he is also co-founder of the wine brand IIIFREUNDE, which he launched together with Joko Winterscheidt. His roles in international productions have introduced him to a global audience: from Zack Snyder’s Netflix hit Army of the Dead and Army of Thieves—which he not only starred in, but also directed—to Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer. Schweighöfer represents a creative path that seamlessly connects acting, directing, producing, and international storytelling. Off-screen as well, Schweighöfer combines entertainment with entrepreneurial thinking. In collaborations with select brands such as Tiffany & Co., XXXLutz, Omega, and Leica, he brings his personality and creative perspective into diverse brand contexts. It is all about uniting authentic storytelling, a distinct creative identity, and strong brand partnerships. At the OMR Festival 2027 in Hamburg, Matthias Schweighöfer talks about how to tell stories in a world saturated with content and stimuli, how to stay creative and relevant, and what it means to work both in front of and behind the camera. He shares insights from his experience as an actor, director, and producer, showing how different perspectives on storytelling influence each other. Photo credit: Alex Waltl
