She already knew that people wrote mediocre texts before there was any AI slop. Anne-Kathrin Gerstlauer started the now internationally award-winning newsletter TextHacks four years ago. With almost 20,000 subscribers, it is one of the most successful Substack newsletters in Germany. Her motto: only hacks, no chatter. Fans include editors-in-chief, members of the Bundestag, lawyers struggling with nominal style, volunteer newsletter writers, filler-word lovers from all industries, and of course PR and marketing people.
When AI came to Germany, people thought her topic was dead. Now it’s bigger than ever: most recently, she built the BlaBlaScore on ChatGPT, which gives ruthless feedback and has been clicked more than 10,000 times. She now explains to companies how to write stronger texts with and without AI.
In a previous life, she was deputy editor-in-chief of watson.de and head of ZEIT Campus ONLINE.
When AI came to Germany, people said, “Better writing? That topic is dead.” Anne-Kathrin Gerstlauer has been proving the opposite for years. The journalist shows that algorithms are no substitute for brilliance—but they can be pretty good partners. On the HBO Max Stage, she promises real talk instead of buzzword bingo—and a guide to writing powerful texts. Yes, even with AI. 20 hacks, no nonsense.
