About the speaker

The German Bundestag sits on ‘Figura’ chairs, former US President Barack Obama has sat on a Vitra chair at a NATO summit, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel had an ‘Eames Aluminium Chair’ in her office and Kim Kardashian is also a fan. For decades now, the Swiss design furniture manufacturer Vitra has managed to ensure that its products are very popular at many major, relevant events.  As part of the third generation, Nora Fehlbaum has been CEO of the family business since 2016. But even before that, since joining the company in 2010, she had already made a significant contribution to making Vitra what it is today. She was responsible for the almost legendary Vitra Campus, which is home to the Vitra Museum, ‘the secret Mecca of furniture design’, among other things. She launched the global online shop and expanded the Accessories Collection. While the first generation laid the commercial foundations of the company and the second added the cultural dimension with the Vitra Campus, the Vitra Design Museum and its collection, Nora Fehlbaum, as a representative of the third generation, prioritises sustainability. The use of recycled plastics is just one example. One of the major goals by 2030: to leave a net-positive footprint with Vitra.
